A permaculture garden is part of an overall lifestyle of growing a productive landscape
with a focus on organic food and creating healthy soils by using
sustainable design strategies that work with nature.
In comparison to general landscaping,
they are Innovative, Polycultural and Efficient in many ways.
Specific techniques are practiced for recycling organic matter, food waste and water, whilst
harnessing the natural energy cycles (solar, water, wind etc) to reduce the dependence on inputs and generate higher outputs or yields.
It all starts with an innovative design; one integrates individuals with their landscape.
Organic Motion Designs, Creates and Educates anyone with the vision to grow organic food.
Organic Motion integrates innovative strategies appropriate to each site, based on principles & ethics from Permaculture; the design framework & science of systems ecology.
We have high regards for natural building & use the Earthbag technique for construction of some landscaping structures & teach courses for various projects. Many of our clients participate in the implementation process to learn these skills & save labour costs. The nutritious & delicious plant species grown in an abundant landscape will generally require more attention than ornamental species (fertility & harvesting), so information for growing, harvesting, maintaining & eating these foods is published in the
detailed design report.
Some innovative structures we build include; 'rocket' stove pizza ovens, water tanks, herb spirals, 'wicking' beds, chicken tractors & more.
Self-sufficiency, productivity & fertility can be achieved through the diverse plant species that grow abundantly in our bio-region.
Let us introduce you to the culinary & medicinal possibilities as well as techniques such as layering
& stacking, companion guilds
& perennial systems.
Get a greater yield from your landscape - with less labour,
inputs costs and resources.
Diversity is not only essential to the health of your garden, but also for your body. Eating a diverse array of foods ensures a nutritionally complete diet so growing a diverse range of plant species and a variety of cultivars within species will increase your food security & seasonal food selections - which is key both in your garden & to your plate. You could transform your orchard into a tropical food forest!
We take many observations of your property during the site analysis to produce sector (external energies coming onto the site) & zone planning (visits per day) maps, prior to producing the illustrated conceptual design,
the landscaping 'blueprint'.
We also provide energy efficiency recommendations & note these strategies during the consultation.
Intelligent design & planning comes from understanding the relationships between each element, & harnessing the flow of energies such as (but not limited to); sun, water, wind, slope. Composting, minimising waste, capturing water & using biology to create fertility are just some strategies use. While natural systems can be complex, with the right focus & observations, considerations of the function, relative location & purpose of each element, we will develop a well thought out design that harmoniously integrates your landscape & lifestyle.
